Steve Taylor kicks off Platinum Page with his very funny account of becoming a first time dad in Fatherhood. The food cravings, the panic, and helping out at childbirth classes...

Fatal Bedtime Drink, a tale of a lost book, a letter, and love. It could be nothing else but a case of 2+2=5...

Number One - Make List, is a fabulous story about a lady who takes charge of everything and relies on lists. A very poignant story.

The Green Door of Time. If you could meet anyone at all in the history of the world, who would you choose? For one man, the choice was easy.

With Intent. A story with a sensational twist at the end. A celebratory cruise is the setting for Maggie and Ian...

William Spring and the Dukes Agent. Let's hear it for the underdog! When the situation seems dire, a little bit of thinking and a lot of hard work, saves the day!

Face the Music and Dance, continuing the serial with Peter. Peter is in hospital when he receives an unexpected visitor, with a shocking proposal.

A visit to the World Trade Centre, comes next, and a rather unfortunate event with a bottle of aftershave...

The magazine ends with three poems, all very different styles, and all very descriptive.

Issue 3, Feb/March

I'm all set to go to the printer's on Friday morning. Pages checked, punctuation checked, covers decided upon. The photograph on the front cover of this issue is part of a walk to the castle in Prudhoe. The photograph on the back cover, is a scene in Flam, Norway.

There are a couple of new writer's in this issue, which is exciting not only for me, but also for them!

Hints of January

Stories in the January edition.

Taylor's Travels are true accounts of one man's dream to visit USA. He lands at JFK airport, excited, and with camera in hand, proceeds to take photographs of anything and everything he see's. From yellow cabs to signposts. It's only when the Manhattan skyline comes into sight that he realises he has no film in his camera...

Walking in the Cheviot Hills, A Writer's Dream shows us a different form of what we all dread... a writer's block...

Madame Le Blanc, a postmistress, does a whole lot more than simply stamp letters and weigh parcels. She believes in keeping things in the family... until it's time to move on.

Pet Day at school is about a puppy that was re-homed from a rescue centre. After a tough beginning, he has finally found a loving home, and visits a local school to tell the children about his life.

The Adventures of Molly Poppie and Erin, is written by a grandfather for his grand-daughter. The three little girls climb through a tree trunk and find themselves in a land of cukcoo clouds and lollipop trees.

Digging for Victory, a tale about allotment holders up against a luxury home builder. Disgruntled men, an unexploded bomb, and a slice of Betty's prize winning chocolate sponge are deliciously arranged!

Face the Music and Dance, Platinum Page's very own serial, finds Peter Shakespeare getting his girl, but ends with horrific consequences.

Sprinkled over two pages are poems which have been generously shared with us.

I send an enoormous thank you to all of the contributors, and look forward to getting edition 3 printed.

Influences in writing

I'm working on my first, and rather brilliant, novel, and have based Dinah on myself - unwittingly at first - but now she is becoming more and more like me. She has some of my little 'quirks' one being that she has a tendancy to babble on... another is her obsession with everything being in date/colour/etc order whether its the books on the bookcases or the clothes in her wardrobe or the lotions and potions in the bathroom.

I wonder if other writers base characters on themselves...?

Age!

I've just discovered, one of the contributors to Platinum Page is 72. My youngest writer is 15. For some reason beyond me, I'm quite fascinated by this, though I'm not sure why! I consider myself lucky to have writers from one end of the scale to the other :)

It just shows, you don't have to be a certain age to write. All you need is the passion.

Copies posted

I have been to the printers, picked up the magazine, and posted copies out. They should be winging their way to all parts of the UK, and Spain as I type.

It's all very exciting!

I've decided that it's quite hard to decide what to put on the front cover each month. Some sort of landscape? A smiley face? Are these writing related? No, I don't think they are. But I can't think of what is. At the moment.
